The Regatta on Grand RV Resort Review: Waterfront Camping in Grove, Oklahoma

For years, we had talked about trying a motorhome. We are avid RVers and normally travel in our fifth wheel, but we wanted to see how a motorhome might fit our travel style. So, in July 2025, my wife, daughter, dog, and I set out from Boerne, Texas, in a Class C Windsport for a multi-stop adventure through Arkansas and Oklahoma.
The Windsport was a great RV overall. The suspension was definitely rougher than we expected, but having a bathroom onboard while traveling was absolutely awesome. One of the stops we were most excited about was The Regatta on Grand in Grove, Oklahoma, where we stayed from July 15 until leaving one day early on July 18.
Arrival and First Impressions
The first thing we noticed was how clean and easy the resort was to navigate. Bringing the motorhome into the park and getting to our site was simple, which immediately made for a relaxed arrival. The staff was fantastic from the beginning. They guided us directly to our site, made sure we were settled in, and even welcomed us with margaritas. That is the kind of hospitality you remember.

A Waterfront Site With Fantastic Views
Our favorite part of the stay was the view. We backed the RV up toward the water and had a fantastic view of Grand Lake right from our site. There is something special about stepping outside your RV and having the lake right there. It gave the entire stay a true waterfront-resort feeling.
What We Enjoyed at The Regatta
We spent time walking along the lake and enjoying the scenery. The onsite cafe and restaurant were both excellent, and having good food right at the resort made the stay even easier. The dog park was another big win for us. It was a great onsite amenity and made traveling with our dog much more convenient.
Reserve a Boat Before You Arrive
We had hoped to rent a boat and spend time out on Grand Lake, but every boat at the marina was already booked. That was not The Regatta's fault; we simply did not plan far enough ahead. If getting out on the lake is important to your trip, reserve your boat before you arrive.
Don't Wait Tip: Grand Lake is popular, especially during the summer. Book your boat rental well in advance instead of waiting until check-in.
Why We Left a Day Early
The only real challenge during our stay had nothing to do with the resort: it was hot and still. With very little breeze and the Oklahoma summer heat settling in, we decided to use the flexibility of RV travel and leave one day early for our next stop at Choctaw RV Park in Durant.
Sometimes changing the plan is part of the adventure. We had enjoyed The Regatta, but the heat made moving on early the right choice for our family.
Would We Stay at The Regatta Again?
Yes, absolutely. The lake views, waterfront site, fantastic restaurant, clean grounds, helpful staff, and great dog park made The Regatta a memorable stop. Next time, we would plan the trip a little better, reserve a boat in advance, and perhaps choose dates when the weather is a little more cooperative.
The Bottom Line
If you are looking for waterfront RV camping on Grand Lake with excellent staff, great food, beautiful views, and useful amenities for dogs, The Regatta on Grand deserves a place on your list. We would gladly return—just with a boat reservation already in hand.
That is what Don't Wait for Someday is all about: trying something new, changing the plan when needed, and making the memories while you can.
